Planning a wedding in the UK comes with one uncertainty that no amount of preperation can account for; the good old British weather. You can plan a wedding in the absolute height of summer and still say I do against a backdrop of dark clouds and hail. UNLESS that is you book me to photograph your wedding as I am blessed by the sun god Apollo and will act as your good weather charm, which brings me to the gorgeous cheshire marquee wedding of Maddie&Paul this past July hosted at Ryland’s Farmhouse and Events. This was my first time at Ryland’s and I was so impressed by the space, mixing the luxury marquee ceremony space with the picturesque outdoor farm setting. I arrived at prep hosted by Maddie’s parents who were kind enough to let the bridal party get ready in their beautifully warm and well lit home and spent at least half an hour staring at the two classic cars that would be transporting everybody to the ceremony with Maddie being driven by her Dad. After some portraits in the dress and an emotional reveal to Dad and bridal party I raced ahead to capture some guests before Maddie’s arrival followed by a wonderdul ceremony full of laughter and music lead by the amazing talents of celebrant Tom Guest. With everybody ready for a party Maddie&Paul danced their way out and into a confetti shot and the sun shone down ready for the festivities to begin!

Ryland’s is a perfect space for one of my favourite parts of the wedding day to photograph, just after the ceremony as the couple are showered in hugs and congratulations and happy faces are captured in droves. Drinks were flowing, the ice-cream truck was arriving and the sun was shining down on Maddie&Paul. I spent a while ninja’ing around the venue taking candids and family formals before we went for some portraits around the farm and of course a handful with the wedding car too, it would have been rude not to! Back inside for food&speeches, the whole marquee was then captured by the talents of the singing waiters that left everybody on their feet and ready to party the night away. As the evening started to set in it looked like golden hour portraits might be possible, so we all headed into the nearby field to capture some gold of our own. I’m still not enttiely sure if we were allowed to hop the fence and go into this field, but the sun wasn’t going to wait for us so to Ryland’s I ask for forgiveness not permission if we weren’t, and I’m sure you would agree the photos were worth it. Extra props must be given to a pregnant Maddie for making short work of the fence too. With golden hour done, everyone gathered inside for the first dance before we were handed over to the unelievable talents of DJ Tom Finkill. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wedding party so entertained in my ten years shooting weddings and I got some of the best dance floor shots of those ten years.
